Genesis G90 Spied Inside Again, Shows New Details

Today and thanks to our follower visionc_ we noticed a new set of interior pictures were taken showing new details such as the new buttons to open doors as this next generation 2022 Genesis G90 (codenamed as RS4) won’t have it handles. Genesis placed some buttons in the front and rear center console.

What we know so far?

The next-gen G90 was confirmed to be equipped with a ‘level 3’ autonomous driving system consisting of a camera radar and two lidars. We also have known that will keep the 5.0 V8 engine while having air suspension for the first time.

This is the very first time we saw the new luxury sedan from Genesis, but there are a few keys to recognize as a new Genesis vehicle, like the taillights, which still has the two lines, but this is the first time we see the front end, and it has similar headlights as the Genesis bespoke EV model, not sure if this is the new design identity or just provisional lights.

The two radar LiDAR system will allow to implement level 3 autonomous driving based on a control algorithm developed by Hyundai Motor in addition to the existing camera radar sensor.

On the other hand, the next-gen Genesis G90 will be equipped with two radars on both sides of the front of the vehicle to realize a more advanced autonomous driving function, such as interrupting the vehicle in the sideways car while driving. In addition, more precise operation is possible even in cloudy weather, and it can be replaced more naturally in various emergencies.

“Equipped with one radar, the autonomous driving function is focused on the front side, but mounting the radar on the two front sides is advantageous for implementing a more complete level 3, such as detecting a vehicle intrusion.” “Before responding to Level 3 technology, it will be advantageous to secure the advantage of self-driving technology with the G90.”

Hyundai’s hardware (HW) camera, radar, and lidar three groups of sensing devices are integrated into a single algorithm, and various sensor signals generated during driving are combined to secure an independent control algorithm that makes optimal judgment.

The new G90 is expected to be an important opportunity for Hyundai to take the lead in technological advancement in the field of autonomous driving in the future.

World Premiere of G70 Shooting Brake at Goodwood

The highly anticipated Genesis G70 Shooting Brake was revealed at Goodwood Festival of Speed today by Dominique Boesch, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe, and the Duke of Richmond.

The G70 Shooting Brake, the fifth vehicle in the brand’s growing vehicle line-up for Europe, embodies the award-winning design philosophy of Genesis while honouring the rich history of the Shooting Brake tradition with its iconic design.

To celebrate the global debut, Genesis commissioned a one-shot first-person view (FPV) journey through Goodwood House and up the famous hill climb as it chased the car. You can view it here.

Shot in glorious 4K high definition, using a 5″ FPV drone piloted by Miles Mulvagh and Harry Clifton, the drone reached speeds of up to 60 mph while tailing the G70 Shooting Brake driven by former British F2 rally champion and precision driver, Gethin Jones, up the 1,890-metre track.

Dominique Boesch, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe, commented: “We are thrilled to be here at Goodwood today to reveal this pivotal model for Genesis, our fifth car in the region. The iconic British festival, watched by millions, is the perfect destination to unveil our bespoke product tailored for European customers.

“We are also excited to invite fans to experience a different perspective on the iconic hill climb and stunning grounds here at Goodwood, connecting the British heritage and Korean influence, whilst showcasing the athleticism of the G70 Shooting Brake in an audacious film.”

Highlighting the luxury of Goodwood House, the film begins with an aerial shot of its opulent surroundings before the camera descends and enters the grand Egyptian Dining Room through the sash window. The camera passes the Duke of Richmond enjoying traditional Ginseng tea as he catches up on the latest news from Korea, the home of Genesis.

The car and drone then weave in and out of the trees along the iconic hill climb showcasing the dynamic styling and versatility of the G70 Shooting Brake, before coming to a stop at the top with the drone demonstrating the practicality of the Shooting Brake by landing gracefully in the boot.

Over the weekend, fans can see the all-new G70 Shooting Brake on the world-renowned hill climb, along with the recently launched GV80 SUV and G80 saloon and the G70 saloon and GV70 urban SUV, as well as viewing the full range at the Genesis Mobile Lounge.

On 4 May, Genesis officially announced its plans for the European market with the brand commencing sales later this year, starting with Germany, the UK and Switzerland.

Orders for the G80 saloon, and its GV80 SUV, open this summer, with the G70 Shooting Brake, GV70 SUV and G70 Saloon following soon after. The electrified G80 will soon follow as part of the brand’s lineup of three electric cars to be announced within the year.

2020 Genesis G70: finally a rival for German sport sedans

Now is the time. Brand anxiety? Brand sensitivity? Let the terms vanish from any discussion including vehicles made by Genesis.

The luxury division of Hyundai was founded in 2015. Its first vehicle debuted in 2017 and late last year J.D. Power named Genesis the most dependable automotive brand in North America.

Launched with the large sedan G90, the brand now has three sedans and a sport utility vehicle, all moving into 2021 editions. Last year’s models are still available including the Genesis G70.

The 2020 Genesis G70 challenges the German luxury sport sedans from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

In its debut two years ago the smallest of the company’s three sedans was named North American Car of the Year by the national automotive media industry. The 2020 Genesis G70 offers the same combination — a sport-oriented sedan. It’s handsomely built and well-priced against top-line German rivals Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The 2020 Genesis G70 is offered in 2.0T, 2.0T six-speed manual and 3.3T. Two engine options and four option packages are available in all models. The reviewed 3.3T is the most powerful. It’s equipped with a turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 with 365 horsepower.

2020 Genesis G70: Loaded With Features

Beyond the plentiful equipment from other trims — 19-inch wheels to upgraded brakes and head-up display — the 3.3T has navigation, a heated steering wheel, a surround-view monitor and add an electronically controlled suspension.

Like few others, the G70 is appealing and provides an intangible quality. It’s immediately comfortable and road confident. It offers a well-balanced voyage while on duty as a city driving companion. And it’s all in on long hauls when comfort becomes increasingly more important as hours pass.

Despite its high-level status, the second-year Genesis has one major disappointment. It’s designated as a five-passenger sedan, but like many vehicles defined the same, the G70 fails. The front bucket seats have 12 adjustments for the driver and eight for the passenger, and there’s plenty of headroom and legroom.

The interior of the Genesis G70 is handsome, intuitively positioned and helps define the sedan’s luxury status.

The back seats are tight for two occupants, a misnomer for three passengers since the sloping roofline tightens the quarters for all but the diminutive.

The 2020 Genesis G70 is often matched against the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C class. The Audi and BMW have top-line performance numbers. But the Genesis is far from pedestrian with 0-to-60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds and a top-end effort not too from its rivals.

Gas efficiency is 17 miles per gallon in city driving, 26 mph on the freeway. The starting MSRP is $44,650 and the total price $51,245. Like Hyundai and Kia, its close South Korean relatives, Genesis has a 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, the industry’s best.

For tight maneuvering in city driving, negotiating parking lots and fending off unskilled drivers, the G70 remains composed. At freeway speeds, the Genesis performs well throughout its lineup. It doesn’t misrepresent luxury sedans.

While not plush, the G70’s interior is minimalistic and offered with quality craftsmanship on the dash, console and doors. Gauges and dials are intuitive and the overall vision is without obstruction. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist and automatic high-beam headlights increase safety.

An eight-inch touch-screen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is standard. The interface is easy to decipher with a layperson’s menu and easy use buttons and instructions.

The all-German, top-three entry-level luxury sports sedans have loyal followers. The top-line Audi 4 ($47,945), BMW 3 Series ($56,995) and Mercedes-Benz C Class ($46.945) are popular for good reasons. And they can all price out far more expensively than the Genesis G70.

The German car-buying masses will unlikely make a smooth transition to buying Genesis. But two years after its arrival, the G70 is a mature, worthy challenger to the old guard.

Genesis GV70 Spied w/ Alcantara Seats & Carbon Pattern

Today we want to share the latest pictures of the Genesis GV70 Sport spied in South Korea, where we can see the GV70 (codenamed as JK1) prototype from the inside, with Alcantara seats and a carbon fiber pattern around the armrest and door panels, this finish was found inside of 20″ inch wheel and rounded dual exhaust GV70 by Clubstinger.kr

What we know so far?

If you look at the spy shot of the recently captured GV70, there is one other part. If you look closely, you can see that there is no pentagonal muffler vertically on the bumper. Instead of the muffler, only the black glossy net is visible. Looking at the recently released GV80 and G80 diesel models, it is characterized by applying a so-called ‘faucet muffler’ rather than a muffler exposed outside.

Therefore, the spy shot model can be regarded as the main diesel model. But the image above corresponds to the GV70 Sport, as has different design, are bigger and has special wheels too. While the bigger GV80 is aiming for the Mercedes GLE, the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7 the smaller GV70 will go after the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.

If you look at other design elements, the tail lamp design looks similar to the GV80 and G80, and you can see that the auxiliary brake light is on the top of the tailgate. And you can see that the reflector and direction indicator are applied to the bumper. In the GV80 and G80, the turn signal is different from that included in the tail lamp. In other words, the Genesis family look is applied, but it is expected to show a slightly different appearance from the GV80.

The engine lineup applied to the GV70 was confirmed to be the same as the G80, 2.5 gasoline turbo, 3.5 gasoline turbo, and 2.2 diesel. Since it is the same engine, the specifications are also shared. 2.5 gasoline turbo has a maximum output of 304 hp, maximum torque of 43.0 kg.m, 2.2 diesel has a maximum output of 210 hp, maximum torque of 45.0 kg.m, 3.5 gasoline turbo has a maximum output of 380 hp and maximum torque of 54.0 kg.m (this could be only available for the GV70 Sport). As the body size is small, it is expected to show more dynamic performance than the GV80.

Although there are no transmission data, many models of Hyundai, including Genesis, use an 8-speed automatic transmission, so the GV70 is likely to be equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Semi-active engine mounts are applied to diesel models. It improves idle NVH performance when stopped, reducing engine vibration transmitted to the driver. The drive system is based on the rear wheel, and AWD can be selected as an option.

Next, let’s look at the appearance specifications. The bonnet and tailgate are made of aluminum to reduce the body weight. As mentioned earlier, the muffler offers only dual gasoline models. The fuel tank is equipped with 66 liters and the battery is equipped with AGM’s 80 Ah capacity. The wheels are available in three sizes: 18 inches, 19 inches and 21 inches, and 19 inches and 21 inches are available in two designs. Bridgestone tires are standard, Michelin tires are option al for diesel, and 3.5 gasoline turbos are standard.

Let’s take a look at the exterior and interior options. The central display is based on the same 14.5 inches as the GV80 and G80. In addition, a Genesis integrated controller capable of handwriting recognition is also expected to be provided, and it is not known whether augmented reality navigation is applied.

The instrument panel comes with an 8-inch cluster as standard and a 12.3-inch 3D cluster as an option. Other options include Smart Cruise Control, Smart High Beam, Surround View, Head-Up Display, Rear Monitor, HDA2 and Lexicon Sound System. In order to make a difference from the GV80, some specifications are omitted as options.

According to Hyundai’s production plan, the GV70 is known to start production in October. For this reason, it is highly likely to be released in October and at the latest in November at the earliest. However, due to the uncertainty of the Corona 19 situation, the release schedule is likely to be delayed. It is scheduled to export to Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Canada, the United States and Russia after its domestic launch.

Genesis will also make a electric variant of the GV70 SUV, that will be launched later, and separately of Genesis JW dedicated EV based on the new E-GMP platform, to be cousin of Hyundai 45 and Kia CV.
