Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior To Start At AU$67,490, Will Hit Aussie Dealerships On September 1

Development and testing of the Australian-market Nissan Navara PRO-4X Warrior is now complete, and the rugged pickup will arrive in dealerships from September 1. Pricing starts at AU$67,490 (US$50,115) for a manual-equipped Warrior, and AU$69,990 (US$51,971) for an automatic one.

The pickup truck, which was co-developed with Premcar Engineering, features numerous upgrades over the regular PRO-4X that are specifically designed with the Australian landscape in mind, making it Nissan’s toughest Navara yet.

Some of the exterior changes include a 30 mm (1.18 in) wider track, a Warrior-specific towbar and fender flares, a red ‘Navara’ branded skid plate, and a 3 mm steel second-stage underbody protection plate. And thanks to 275/70/R17 Cooper all-terrain tires, a 40 mm (1.57 in) increase in ground clearance, and a new front bumper with a winch-compatible Safari-style bullbar, the Warrior is afforded with an increased approach angle of 35 degrees over the original’s 32.

The Warrior’s suspension has also been upgraded, with the changes including new spring rates for more front-end support and less body roll, revised damping for better composure over bumps, and taller jounce bumpers for better control at maximum suspension travel.

Powering the PRO-4X Warrior is a 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. Producing 140 kW (188 hp / 190 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque from as low as 1500 rpm, it allows the truck to tow a maximum of 3.5 metric tons (7,716 lb) braked, and carry up to 961 kg (2,119 lb) of payload with the manual transmission (952 kg / 2,099 lb with the automatic). The GVM has also been uprated, rising 100 kg (220 lb) from 3,150 kg (6,945 lb) to 3,250 kg (7,165 lb).

“The PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar is a true Warrior 2.0, delivering more technology, more capability and more go-anywhere toughness than any Navara before it,” said Premcar Engineering Director Bernie Quinn. “We set out to create the most capable Navara ever, and this new Warrior is exactly that. It’s been engineered from the ground up to tackle the toughest terrain Australia can deliver, all without sacrificing comfort. Any new model should be a true evolution, and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved with this Warrior. It benefits from all of our learnings, our customer feedback, and from the improvements made to the Navara PRO-4X, creating a new dual-cab ute that is tailor-made for Australian conditions. Now all that’s left is to get people behind the wheel, and that time is almost here.”

Nissan GT-R Finds Out Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid And Audi RS6 Are No Easy Rivals

<!––>

<!––>

In times gone by, the R35 Nissan GT-R was pretty much the quickest-accelerating production car on earth. However, considerably quicker supercars have come along in recent years, leaving the GT-R for dead. But, surely, with all of its power and traction, the GT-R will have no issues out-performing a couple of fast family cars, right?

Eager to answer that very question, CarWow lined up a Nissan GT-R Nismo against a Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and an Audi RS6. The races from a standing start and a rolling race are very telling.

Read Also: The 2021 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Is A 689 HP Plug-In Hybrid

In the one and only race from a standing start, all three cars sprint off the line at impressive speeds and for the first few feet, are well matched. However, as the speeds start to increase, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Nissan GT-R begin to eke out a lead. Eventually, it is the Porsche that stays ahead of the GT-R as the duo cross the finish line in a perfect demonstration of just how potent the Panamera is.

As for the rolling race, it was just as intriguing. With all three cars in their standard driving modes and with their transmissions in automatic modes, the RS6 gets off the line best but once again, the Porsche and Nissan soon leave it for dead. The main difference with this race is the fact that the Nissan started to pull away from the Porsche as the speeds increased.

Nissan Could Join The Electric Truck Bandwagon With A Titan EV

The electric truck craze shows no sign of slowing down as a new report is indicating Nissan is eyeing a Titan EV.

According to sources who talked to Bloomberg, Nissan is in discussions with Hercules Electric Vehicles about the possibility of buying electric powertrains for use in the Titan. The publication went on to say Nissan would be willing to share parts for use in Hercules’ own electric pickup known as the Alpha.

While details are hazy, the Alpha is slated to have four electric motors that produce a combined output of 1,000 hp (746 kW / 1,014 PS). This will reportedly enable the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in four seconds, before hitting a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h).

The Alpha also promises to have a torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system, “zero radius turning” and a range in excess of 300 miles (483 km). Speaking of the latter, it’s slated use Worksport’s TerraVis solar tonneau cover to help charge the vehicle when parked in the sun.

While the sources cautioned the “talks are ongoing and could still fall apart before a deal is signed,” it’s interesting that Nissan is considering an electric Titan in the first place. A perennial also-ran, Titan sales have fallen in the United States for three conservative years and totaled just 31,514 units in 2019. 2020 is shaping up to be even worse as Nissan has only moved 19,403 units in the first three quarters of the year.

Given that trucks from Ford, General Motors and Ram outsell the Titan by hundreds of thousands of units, it’s hard to see why Nissan would even bother. However, a partnership with Hercules could allow them to offer an electric Titan relatively cheaply when compared to developing the model from scratch.

2022 Nissan Rogue Sport: Looks, Tech And Everything Else We Know About The Compact Crossover

Nissan’s Rogue Sport, named Qashqai in global markets, including in Europe, is a popular small CUV, yet despite selling well, it’s in dire need of a serious makeover. Fortunately for its loyal customer base, the Japanese automaker is readying the next chapter of the Rogue Sport story.

It will join a slew of redesigned offerings such as the regular 2021 Rogue (X-Trail), Pathfinder, Navara, Frontier, Ariya and 400Z sports car in a rejuvenated Nissan lineup.

Test mules of the redesigned small crossover have recently been snapped by spy photographers revealing its sleek new proportions. But more importantly, how will it look without the camouflage? Let’s peel back those eye-straining patterns and illustratively explore further.

Sharp New Attire

Like the latest Juke and larger Rogue, the Sport wears a bold new frontal graphic with dynamic, boomerang-shaped LED headlamps, V-Motion corporate grille and clamshell hood. Obligatory ‘SUV-effect’ plastic cladding is evident around the lower air dam, wheel arch mouldings and rocker panels, whilst the view from the side is chiselled and taut without being overly fussy.

There are hints of Nissan’s Ariya EV towards the rear, with up-swept rear quarter glass and heavily-raked sail panels with contrasting black trim. Thin LED taillights stretch horizontally across the hatch; although they won’t be as radical looking as those seen on other Nissans of late.

A Better Place To Be Inside

One criticism of the current car is its cheap and not-so-cheerful interior. Reassuringly, Nissan is putting a lot of effort into their latest crop of interiors, and the Rogue Sport will benefit immensely.

Expect much of the same content and styling to filter down from the bigger Rogue/X-Trail. Goodies will include a digital instrument cluster, heads-up display, (HUD) 9.0-inch floating tablet-style infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay, surround view monitor and wireless charging.

An enhanced version of Nissan’s ProPilot will bring adaptive cruise control and improved lane-keeping abilities that use navigation-based data to preemptively reduce speed for motorway curves and junctions. This level of driver-assist functionality is often reserved for luxury cars. It adds another layer of safety to complement the expanded rollout of Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite of driver aids.

Under The Skin

The Rogue Sport will ride upon an updated version of the CMF-C/D platform that underpins a myriad of other Nissan, Mitsubishi and Renault products. A safer safety cell and retuned suspension will improve occupant protection and dynamic abilities, as will the availability of all-wheel-drive.

Gasoline power will be the primary source of propulsion from launch. The current model’s 2.0-litre inline-four will carryover in tandem with Nissan’s not-so-loved continuously variable transmission (CVT). Conjecture indicates that 48-volt mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid options will be available down the track, highlighting the Japanese marque’s push towards electrification and the phasing out of diesel in specific markets.

Nissan teased the next Rogue Sport / Qashqai in a recent presentation

Rivals & Reveal

Nissan’s small crossover certainly won’t have it easy as it sits in a hugely dense segment occupied by worthy alternatives. These include Mazda’s CX-30, Honda’s HR-V, Subaru XV/Crosstrek, Toyota C-HR, Kia Soul and Seltos, Hyundai Kona and Venue, Skoda Karoq and Volkswagen T-Roc.

We anticipate an official debut to happen later this year, and sales to commence in 2021.

Nissan Setting Up Drive-In Cinema In Secret Location For 50 LEAF Owners To Watch Champions League Final

If you’re bummed out about not being able to attend this year’s UEFA Champions League Final, yet you’ve got a Nissan Leaf parked in your driveway and you live in Portugal, of course, then you might be in for a treat.

The Japanese carmaker will be setting up a drive-in cinema at a secret location for Sunday’s big game, with 50 selected Leaf owners in attendance (each can bring one guest).

The owner of the 5,000th Leaf sold in Portugal will also attend the event, as well as Portuguese soccer legend Nuno Gomes, who will join an exclusive meet-and-greet.

These select fans will also have access to the UEFA Champions League trophy for an exclusive photo opportunity, before it is taken to the Estadio Da Luz – all this with necessary hygiene measures already in place.

“For six seasons now, we have been electrifying the UEFA Champions League Final,” said Nissan Europe exec Gareth Dunsmore. “This year, we felt even more motivated to add to the excitement of the event.”

“Nothing can recreate the excitement of being in the stadium, but we hope we can give our LEAF owners the next best thing.”

Aside from hosting this exclusive watch party, Nissan will also be parading the previously-mentioned trophy in the streets of Lisbon aboard the Leaf NISMO RC performance car. Furthermore, this will be the first major event to feature Nissan’s new brand logo, unveiled a few weeks back alongside the Ariya EV crossover.

The 2020 UEFA Champions League Final will be disputed between FC Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain FC.

2021 Nissan Ariya Has Concept Looks And Up To 380 Miles Of Range

The 2022 Nissan Ariya is finally here and if looks alone are anything to go by, it has certainly been worth the wait.

Nissan will sell the all-electric in four different powertrain flavors. Sitting at the base of the range will be a rear-wheel drive variant with a 65 kWh battery pack and producing a total of 215 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque. Nissan quotes a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h). Range is quoted at 280 miles (450 km) based on Japanese testing.

Sitting above this variant will be another two-wheel drive model albeit with a larger 90 kWh battery and now pumping out 239 hp and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm). This variant hits 62 mph in 7.6 seconds, has the same 99 mph top speed as the base variant, and can travel up to 379 miles (610 km) on a single charge.

Two all-wheel drive models will also be offered. The first uses a 65 kWh battery as well as two electric motors making for a combined 335 hp and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque. Naught to 62 mph is quoted at 5.4 seconds while the top speed sits at 124 mph (200 km/h). Range sits at 267 miles (430 km). Last but not least is a flagship all-wheel drive Ariya with a 90 kWh battery, a total of 389 hp and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque, a 0-62 mph time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph. This variant is good for 360 miles (580 km) of range on a charge.

Nissan’s designers have kept true to the concept that first previewed the Ariya and welcomed in a new design philosophy for the brand known as ‘Timeless Japanese Futurism’. Found up front is a large 3D-effect shield grille while sitting on the fascia is Nissan’s new logo. Elsewhere, the SUV includes available 19- and 20-inch aluminum wheels. Key aspects of design at the rear include a steeply raked C-pillar and the one-piece light bar.

Things are particularly interesting in the cabin that “is more akin to a sleek café lounge on a starship, evoking performance and intrigue, than to a traditional automotive cabin,” according to the company. With that in mind, there is a flat floor and a dashboard that looks as though it is floating between the A-pillars. Included within that dashboard is a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment system that supports over-the-air updates.

Perhaps even more intriguing than the screens are the almost total lack of physical buttons. Rather than traditional buttons and dials being used to control the climate control, there are instead touch buttons neatly incorporated into the wood-like trim on the dashboard. When not in use they are almost invisible but when the car is switched on, they are illuminated. Similar touch buttons can be found on the center console to adjust the drive mode and other functions.

Nissan has equipped the Ariya with its latest ProPILOT 2.0 advanced driver assistance system, as well as ProPILOT Remote Park. The first ProPILOT package was a hands-on assistance system that kept drivers centered in their lane while also navigating stop-and-go highway traffic but ProPILOT 2.0 expands on that by allowing attentive drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel in certain conditions. Making up the system are seven cameras, five millimeter-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic sonar sensors.

Deliveries of the Nissan Ariya will kick off in Japan in mid-2021 with prices starting at 5 million yen (~$46,000). It will land in Europe, North America, and China by the end of 2021.

Nissan Shows More Of The 2021 Ariya Tesla Model Y Fighter In New Teaser

Nissan is only a few days away from presenting the Ariya, a compact electric crossover that will take on the likes of the Tesla Model Y and other vehicles in the segment.

The model will be officially unveiled during an online event scheduled for July 15, but until we will finally see it in all its glory, the Japanese automaker continues to tease it. The latest clip shows two Ariya vehicles testing on snow and ice, perhaps close to the Arctic Circle, and on the road, in a warmer environment.

Announced last year’s Tokyo Motor Show by the striking looking Ariya Concept, the production model will look similar, boasting a nearly identically shaped grille with two LED strips on each side acting as the daytime running lights and slim LED headlights.

Even the cutouts in the bumper mirror the looks of the show car, and further behind, we can see that Nissan has chosen to keep the plastic cladding around the wheel arches and on the side skirts.

Expected to launch in Japan first, with other markets to follow, including China, Europe and eventually the United States, the Ariya will feature a zero-emission powertrain featuring two electric motors, one on each axle. For now, specific details remain unknown.

It will also get the company’s ProPilot 2.0 semi-autonomous driving system, which will aid drivers on their daily commutes by allowing the car to take control of the steering, brakes and throttle on the highway.

What Else Can You Get For $1.1M Instead Of The Nissan GT-R50 By Italdesign?

The market for $1 million cars has exploded in recent years, and there are now many more choices in this rarefied segment than there used to be a decade ago.

One nameplate you wouldn’t expect to find on a list of cars that cost $1 million is the Nissan GT-R, though. That changed late last year when the production version of the limited-edition Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign was announced.

Made in just 50 units worldwide, the anniversary model is offered for a whopping €990,000 in Europe – the equivalent of $1.09 million in U.S. currency. For the money, buyers will get a unique coachbuilt body, an interior tailored to their exact specifications, the underpinnings of the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo, and then some.

The hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is specially tuned by Nismo to deliver 720 PS (710 HP) and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) of torque, rounding out a very special package. But isn’t $1.09 million a bit too much to pay on what is essentially an Italian-styled and more powerful GT-R Nismo?

This got us thinking, what else could you buy for that kind of money? The following list is not exhaustive, as we mainly tried to illustrate the diversity of existing alternatives to the coachbuilt GT-R. You are more than welcome to add your own suggestions in the comments section. Here we go!

10 Nissan GT-Rs or 5 Nissan GT-R Nismos

Yes, $1.09 million will buy you roughly 10 (9.5 to be exact) 2020 Nissan GT-Rs – you know, if you ever wanted your entire family to drive GT-R. Priced from $115,335 (including a $1,795 destination and handling fee), the 565 HP 2020 Nissan GT-R is a supercar killer that seems like a bargain compared to the GT-R50.

If you feel your family members deserve better, you could spend your $1.09 million on five 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismos. At a cool $212,535 each, the 600 HP GT-R Nismo is the car the GT-R50 is based on.

Aston Martin V12 Speedster: $938,500

If buying a bunch of Japanese sports cars for $1.09 million is too vulgar and below your dignity, Aston Martin may have something for your exacting demands. It’s called the V12 Speedster and it’s created by the bespoke customization service ‘Q by Aston Martin’ in a run of just 88 units, each priced at £765,000 ($938,500). This makes it a much more affordable alternative to the McLaren Elva and Ferrari Monza SP2 while looking every bit as special.

With no screen or roof, the Aston Martin V12 Speedster packs a a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine tuned to produce 690 HP (700 PS) and 555 lb-ft (752 Nm) of torque. That’s about the same as the GT-R50, but do you think people will even notice the Nissan parked next to this?

McLaren Senna: $1.05 Million

It’s not that often a Nissan GT-R costs more than a McLaren hypercar, but that’s exactly the case with the GT-R50 and the Senna. The mid-engined British model starts at $1,050,000, which means you can also pocket $40,000 after the purchase.

You’ll get a hypercar whose 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 churns out 800 PS (789 HP) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint of 2.8 seconds and a 211 mph (340 km/h) top speed. Plus, it’s named after the late, and legendary, Ayrton Senna. What else is there to add?

NIO EP9: $1.2 Million

Let’s stay in the realm of hypercars with a very special model, the all-electric NIO EP9. Admittedly, we went over budget with this one but we can make an exception to include the Nürburgring lap record holder for electric vehicles, which has posted a time of 6 minutes and 45.90 seconds on the German track.

Built by China’s NIO in a run of only 16 units, the EP9 is way more exclusive than the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign. It’s also way faster, as its four electric motors totaling 1,360 PS (1,342 HP) enable it to do 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 313 km/h (194 mph).

Lamborghini’s Range: Aventador SVJ ($518,000) + Urus ($211,231) +  Huracan Evo Spyder ($287,400)

This dream trio totals a little over $1 million and would make one heck of a garage for a Lamborghini enthusiast. Think about it; you’d have the stellar performance and presence of the 770 HP Aventador SVJ coupe, the practicality and all-terrain capability of a 650 HP Urus, and the open-top character and raw emotions unleashed by the 631 HP Huracan Evo Spyder. Hard to beat this combination, right?

Ferrari 812 Superfast ($338,750) + Ferrari SF90 Stradale ($625,000)

Well, if you’re a Ferrari kind of guy, you could have two of the hottest thoroughbreds from Maranello right now. We’re talking about the front-engined, 789 HP 812 Superfast and the mid-engined, 986 HP SF90 Stradale plug-in hybrid. You’ll be left with plenty of “change” too – $126,250 to be exact. The cash could come in handy as maintaining not one but two Ferraris is not to be taken lightly.

The range topping variant of each Porsche model

If reliability and bang-for-buck are important for you, you could simply spend your $1.09 million on getting the most expensive models of Porsche’s lineup. We’re talking one of each model line.

Here they are: 718 Spyder ($97,650), 718 Cayman GT4 ($100,550), 911 Turbo S Cabriolet ($217,650), Taycan Turbo S ($188,960), Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo ($193,050), Macan Turbo ($85,950), and Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe ($165,750). The grand total is $1.05 million and that would cover all your motoring needs, from sports cars, wagons and sedans to SUVs, motivated by gasoline, plug-in hybrid or all-electric powertrains.

Over to you now: how would you spend your (hypothetical or real) $1.09 million?
