Bugatti Rimac Is Officially In Business, With An HQ In Croatia And Mate Rimac As The CEO

Four months after the official announcement of the marriage between Bugatti and Rimac, the “Bugatti Rimac” joint company is officially in business, with its headquarters in Sveta Nedelja, Croatia, and Mate Rimac undertaking the CEO role.

Despite the new joint venture, both Bugatti and Rimac will continue “to act as independent brands” retaining their production sites and sales channels. They will keep offering different vehicles, although jointly developed models are planned for the future. Mate Rimac said: “I am very excited to see what impact Bugatti Rimac will have on the industry and how we will develop innovative new hyper sports cars and technologies. It’s hard to find a better combination for new and exciting projects”.

The complex shareholder structure of Bugatti Rimac involves Porsche, Hyundai, Rimac, and other investors.

The Rimac Group holds the majority stake in the new venture with 55 percent of the shares, and Porsche AG is holding the remaining 45 percent. Thus, Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili became the CEO of Bugatti Rimac, while the supervisory board includes high-ranked officials from Porsche AG – Oliver Blume (chairman), and CFO Lutz Meschke (deputy chairman, CFO).

Stephan Winkelmann who has been Bugatti’s president since January 2018 and Lamborghini’s president since December 2020, will now focus on the latter role as Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. After his term in Bugatti leading to the automaker’s most successful year, Winkelmann said: “I would like to thank the entire Bugatti team and our customers for three and a half unbelievable, exciting, intense and successful years. Together, we have developed fantastic hyper sports cars and led Bugatti into a new dimension”.

Other changes in the high-ranking positions include Hendrik Malinowski who is the Managing Director responsible for Sales and Marketing in Bugatti, Larissa Fleischer who is leaving Porsche AG to become Chief Financial Officer of Bugatti Rimac, and Emilio Scervo who is Chief Technology Officer of Bugatti Rimac after undertaking similar roles in McLaren and Rimac Automobili.

A total of 435 employees will work for Bugatti Rimac, with 300 located in Zagreb, Croatia, and 135 in Molsheim, France. An additional 180 employees will be working for the joint company from the Wolfsburg development site in Germany.

Bugatti Teams Up With High-Tech Italian Apparel-Maker UYN

Bugatti and Italian apparel company UYN (Unleash Your Nature) announced a collaboration that will initially lead to the creation of 11 pieces of clothing, including jackets, mid-layers, polo-shirts, and technical shirts, and two styles of shoes.

“At Bugatti, we never stop pushing boundaries in all areas of our brand. Leading the way and setting new standards is part of our nature, which is why we are delighted to have partnered with UYN to launch the new ‘UYN for Bugatti” collection,’” said Bugatti’s CEO Stefan Winkelmann. “I’m very much looking forward to experiencing the products for myself, and I have no doubt many Bugatti enthusiasts are, too.”

Each item will be made in Italy at UYN’s headquarters in Asola and will come together as part of a close collaboration between the automaker and the apparel maker’s Academy for Research and Engineering in Apparel and Sport. Together they will aim to make items that are breathable, dry quickly, and are soft and elastic.

The shoes, for instance, will be made from a 3D-knit fabric that means they will have no seams. An interpretation of Bugatti‘s C-line design, meanwhile, will be incorporated into the upper half of the shoe as a ventilation system.

That same C-line design cue will be incorporated into the shoulders of the jackets and shirts. The design, which follows the shoulder blade, is intended to offer complete freedom of movement to the wearer. All items will be available in black, white, and Bugatti blue.

“We are proud to have the chance to start this exciting journey together,” said UYN CEO Marco Redini. “Bugatti is a universally recognized icon of excellence and quality, but what struck me particularly is the extraordinary combination of performance with comfort […] This philosophy is the same that underlies every UYN product, and we wanted to bring this to its highest expression in the ‘UYN for Bugatti collection.’”

The full collection will be unveiled this fall and will be available online and in select stores. The collection is expected to be expanded further following the initial launch.

These Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon Watches Cost More Than You Car, If Not Your House

Bugatti has partnered again with luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co. to produce a new limited edition of their already-exclusive Chiron Tourbillon timepiece.

The timepiece draws influence from their Chiron hypercar, and parts inspired by the actual car can be seen throughout. For instance, the watch features a functioning crankshaft and pistons in its design, mimicking the iconic sixteen-cylinder Bugatti engine in great detail.

Flanking that mechanism is a pair of “turbochargers” that spin in conjunction with the “engine’s” motion, providing a true spectacle to onlookers. The whole powertrain assembly is held in place by 4 Chiron-inspired shock absorbers, which means it is actually floating inside the case and can be seen moving slightly up and down while active.

In addition to all the car-inspired details, the watch features a stunningly-intricate, 578-piece movement combining both car and watch design, powered by a flying tourbillon movement inclined at 30 degrees.

Four new limited editions of the Chiron Tourbillon are available, with one having an alternately-colored variant. There is Rose Gold, Rose Gold with diamonds, White Gold and Sapphire Crystal, with the latter also available in blue.

The Rose Gold is limited to 72 examples and is made of 18-karat rose gold with an 18-karat rose gold open caseback. Its diamond-encrusted counterpart is limited to just 52 examples and is set with white baguette diamonds. Both have a black rubber strap, with the “regular” one featuring a black DLC titanium and 18-karat rose gold buckle clasp, and the diamond-encrusted example featuring an 18-karat rose gold buckle clasp decorated with white diamonds.

As its name implies, the White Gold is made of 18-karat white gold with an 18-karat white gold open caseback, and sports 391 individual black and white diamonds. It has a rubber strap with an 18-karat white gold buckle clasp set adorned with 18 white diamonds.

Finally, the Sapphire Crystal is made from a solid block of sapphire with a sapphire crystal caseback, and its alternately colored variant is practically the same, only colored blue instead of silver. Both feature a rubber strap secured by a titanium buckle clasp.

There’s no word on pricing, but given that the “regular” Chiron Tourbillon, which is limited to 250 pieces, costs $280,000, these should have a similar, or more likely even higher, price tag.

Sounds Expensive: Bugatti Teams Up With Tidal To Create High-End Speakers For Your Home

Bugatti has chosen to associate its name with Tidal, a Germany audio system maker that has been in the game for over two decades.

The two companies are looking to “set a new standard for home music systems” with a new category of speakers of “unrivalled exclusivity and high quality like no other”.

Their partnership kicks off with the ‘Royale’ range of speakers that can be customized in numerous ways. There are two main themes, named the Monocoque and Duotone, and customers can choose between different material combinations, including piano finishes and avant-garde colors. Furthermore, each loudspeaker can be customized with leather, carbon fiber, aluminum, different fabrics and even precious metals.

Adorned with the ‘Bugatti’ logo on the front, the speakers are finished in polished stainless steel and feature a curved shape. The backside holds the ‘Tidal for Bugatti’ branding, and beneath the skin, each speaker boasts four subwoofer drivers and a 3-way front unit with mid-range driver and tweeter with diamond diaphragms, a feature also found in the hyper sports cars made in Molsheim. The active speaker also includes powerful amplifier channels and the controller allows it to connect to all kinds of exterior sources, being compatible with music streaming services and smart TVs as well.

Marking the beginning of their collaboration are two sets of home audio systems, the ‘Edition Noir’ and ‘Edition Blanc’, each one limited to 15 units. Pricing was not disclosed at the time of writing, but this is likely one of those cases where if you have to ask how much it costs, you probably cannot afford it.
